Fatal shooting in Fort Pierce bank parking lot under investigation by State Attorney's Office
On September 4th a 43 year old Port St. Lucie man was shot and killed in a bank parking lot in Fort Pierce. The State Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
The shooting occurred just before 4 pm in the parking lot of a Wells Fargo Bank Branch located on US 1. With the investigation still ongoing, the names of both men involved are not being released.
A 66 year old Fort Pierce man stated to Fort Pierce Police Department officers that the victim confronted him near his car and was acting erratically. The 66 year old has a valid concealed weapons license in Florida. He said he thought the other man was going to rob him and feared for his life causing him to fire his handgun which struck the other man.
Fort Pierce Police Crime Scene Unit collected evidence at the crime scene and are working with the State Attorney's Office Major Crimes Unit while the investigation continues.
